3 SIMPLE STEPS
WHY THIS MATTERS
GST (Goods and Services Tax) was introduced in India on 1st July 2017, replacing a complex web of indirect taxes including VAT, Service Tax, Excise Duty and CST. Today every business owner, trader, manufacturer and service provider needs to calculate GST on a daily basis — for invoicing, pricing, returns filing and compliance.
This free GST calculator covers all official GST slabs: 0%, 0.1%, 0.25%, 1%, 1.5%, 3%, 5%, 6%, 7.5%, 12%, 18% and 28%. It works in three modes — Add GST to a base price, Remove GST from an inclusive total (reverse calculation), or Find GST from a known GST amount.
Every result shows the CGST and SGST split (for intra-state supply) as well as the IGST equivalent (for inter-state supply), making it useful for both local and cross-state transactions. You can also calculate for multiple units using the quantity field and copy the full breakdown for your invoice records.
DETAILED GUIDE
Understanding CGST, SGST and IGST
When a business makes a sale within the same state, GST is split equally between CGST (Central GST) and SGST (State GST). For an 18% GST transaction, you pay 9% CGST and 9% SGST.
For inter-state sales (selling to a customer in another state), the full rate is charged as IGST (Integrated GST), which is then distributed between the Centre and the destination state.
How to Use This Calculator for Invoicing
Step 1: Select the correct GST slab for your product or service.
Step 2: Enter your base price (price before tax) in Add GST mode.
Step 3: The calculator shows your invoice total, CGST and SGST amounts separately — these must appear on your GST invoice.
Step 4: Use the Copy button to get a formatted text summary for your records.
Reverse GST Calculation
If a customer gives you a total inclusive price and you need to know the base amount and GST component — use Remove GST mode. Enter the total amount, select the rate, and the calculator extracts the exact GST portion and original base price.
